Each official Daily Dive question gives you 25 seconds of answer time. Read the condition, keep a candidate you can spell and leave time to submit. Our historical practice has no timer.
A suggested 25-second rehearsal
- First few seconds: identify the requested type and qualifier. A character is different from its actor.
- Middle of the clock: keep one qualifying fallback while considering an alternative.
- Before time expires: type, inspect the actual input and submit. Leave enough time for a retry message; do not wait for a fixed last-second signal.
This is a practice suggestion, not an official timing rule or a measured improvement method. Reading, recall and typing speed differ, so shorten the search stage when an answer is long or unfamiliar.
Separate searching from entering
The first-answer guide shows a historical title switch ending with Rango at 10 points. Changing your idea consumes time, but an unusual-sounding title does not establish a better grade. Check whether you can explain the alternative's fit before replacing a workable candidate.
After a miss, keep the next question separate
A completed answer adds its tier's fixed points. An unanswered prompt adds zero; it does not remove previous points. Plankton is 10, Too Clever 15, Schooler 30, Rare 60, Deep Cut 85 and One in a Krillion 100.
Take the next prompt on its own wording. Reaching for an unsupported word to make up a prior miss can create another input problem.
Rehearse without changing your official result
- Choose a past question in untimed practice.
- If useful, run your own 25-second timer. The tool itself does not enforce it.
- After answering, expand the tiers and identify whether the difficulty was the qualifier, recall or spelling.
