Krillion is a free daily word-rarity game at krillion.io: 7 prompts a day, 25 seconds per prompt, and the deeper your recognized answer sits in the game's curated tiers, the farther you dive. Your seven scores add up to a total out of 700.
The October 16, 2026 official data lists as its next reset — every saved sheet since July 16, 2026 has used the same 04:00 UTC boundary.
What this saved reset tells you
The game's reset and this site's answer-sheet update are separate: we publish only after fetching, so the date shown on a page is the reliable coverage marker — a stale day reads "latest saved", never passed off as today. The local time above is calculated from this exact saved timestamp, so it follows your time zone and daylight-saving rules without relying on a fixed conversion table. "Reset" is the daily boundary, not a replay button — for another run today, see playing more than once below.
What does one round look like?

How does Krillion work?
- Open the daily dive. Krillion is free and browser-based at krillion.io — no download or account. One shared dive per day, same 7 prompts for every player.
- Read the prompt, type one answer. You get 25 seconds per prompt. One answer per prompt; submitting several ideas for the same prompt is not how scoring works.
- Score by rarity, then dive. Each recognized answer lands in one of six curated tiers (10–100 points). Your seven scores add up, and points convert to dive depth at 10 meters per point.
What are the rarity tiers?
Every valid answer lands in exactly one tier. The score converts directly to dive depth (1 point = 10 meters), so the tier table doubles as your depth ladder. The last column is recalculated at build time from 93 saved daily sheets (July 16, 2026–October 16, 2026). It shows average roster entries when that tier appears; it does not measure player submissions. The full breakdown is in our statistics report:

The official FAQ says some questions use familiarity data for rarity, while others use LLM assistance and a manual pass. The top Krillion pick also considers fun, not rarity alone. Our saved tiers do not include player-submission counts. Read the official explanation ↗.
What answers count in Krillion?
Krillion does not decide validity by checking the live crowd. Each prompt has a prepared answer set. According to the official FAQ, the creator assembles relevant datasets — such as dictionaries, wiki pages and encyclopedias — then merges and cleans them into one list. Your answer must fit the wording and be recognized in that prompt's list.

How is rarity decided?
The official method depends on the prompt. Some rosters are scored mechanically against a familiarity database; others use model assistance plus a manual pass. The One in a Krillion gem also considers “fun factor,” so it is the curated top pick rather than a mathematical claim that no deeper answer exists. That is why a Deep Cut can occasionally be more obscure than the 100-point gem.

What mistakes do new players make?
Mistake 1: confusing weird with rare
Chasing the answer that merely sounds obscure can backfire: the game calls the go-to “obscure” pick that is not actually obscure Too Clever, and it pays only 15 points. Real case — on August 24's "name a brass instrument" prompt, Saxophone (a stretch — it's a reed instrument) landed in Too Clever for 15 points, while the genuinely obscure Saxhorn earned a Deep Cut's 85.
Mistake 2: trusting your first instinct
A familiar first idea may receive a lower tier. The Plankton roster contains familiar answers. Consider another answer that clearly fits the prompt, but do not infer player frequencies from the roster.
Mistake 3: thinking more answers means more points
Each prompt scores exactly one answer, and an invalid one scores zero. Spraying clever guesses doesn't average out — it busts. When your rare idea is shaky, banking a safe Schooler (30) beats a zero every time.
Can I play more than once a day?
The daily dive is one per day — but there are three legitimate ways to keep playing:

What is a good Krillion score?
What we know (official facts): the maximum is 700 points, the six tier scores are fixed at 10/15/30/60/85/100, depth converts at 10 meters per point. The latest saved sheet lists a 04:00 UTC reset; the live game is the source for the current schedule.
What we estimate (our editorial judgment, not official): the game publishes no score distribution, so there is no official "good." From reviewing 93 saved daily answer sheets, we consider 300+ a good dive and 400+ an excellent one — treat that as our experience-based estimate, not a rule.

How does Krillion scoring work?
Each listed answer is graded into one of six rarity tiers: Plankton (10 points), Too Clever (15), Schooler (30), Rare (60), Deep Cut (85) and One in a Krillion (100). Tiers reflect the curated answer set, not a live count of player submissions. Your 7 scores add up to a daily total out of 700.
What answers count in Krillion?
An answer must fit the prompt and be recognized in that prompt's curated answer set. The official FAQ says those sets are assembled from sources such as dictionaries, encyclopedias and relevant datasets, then merged and cleaned. A reasonable answer can still be absent if the source set missed it.
Why was my valid Krillion answer rejected?
The official creator says a fair answer may be missing because a source was missed. That means a zero does not always prove your idea was factually wrong; it means the live game did not recognize it for that prompt. The official result remains the score of record.
Is One in a Krillion always the rarest answer?
No. The official FAQ says the top gem is chosen for fun as well as rarity because extremely obscure answers become hard to separate. A Deep Cut can therefore be less familiar than the selected One in a Krillion answer.
What does dive depth mean in Krillion?
Depth is your score made tangible: 1 point equals 10 meters of descent. A 700-point perfect dive reaches 7,000 meters, the hadal zone — the deepest part of the ocean. The depth theme is why the tiers run from Plankton at the sunny surface to One in a Krillion in the trench.
When does Krillion reset each day?
Every official sheet saved since July 16, 2026 lists the daily boundary at 04:00 UTC — midnight in New York during daylight saving time. The reset note in this guide converts the saved timestamp to your local time and separates the game's reset from this site's answer-sheet update. The schedule is an observed value; the in-game countdown is authoritative.
