Too Clever in Krillion earns 15 points, or 150 meters. Your answer was accepted, but it did not receive a higher tier. The name can refer to a technical qualification or the supposedly obscure pick that other people think of too. It does not simply mean “wrong.”

Why did a clever answer get only 15 points?

The official How to Play panel warns that the clever-feeling choice may be shared by the rest of the school. A public official notice titled “Too Clever on trial” also described the tier as catching technical fits and popular obscure picks. Those are two different cases:

  1. A technical fit: an answer qualifies through a literal or unusual reading of the category.
  2. An expected clever choice: the less-obvious answer is itself a familiar trick, so thinking of it does not necessarily earn a high tier.

The saved tier tells us how the game graded an answer. It does not tell us the submission percentage or the exact grading rule. A low score alone is not evidence that a country, instrument or animal was put in the wrong factual category.
